So, I decided instead of Marie Antoinette, I’d do Anne Boleyn. A few reasons:
1. Marie Antoinette would be a rehash of the one I made in 2011. I wanted to make a dress I dreamt about – and it was basically the same thing as the blue one, just a different colour scheme. Same wig, too. I still want to do it one day, but not this year.
2. Anne Boleyn I can use my own hair for, no wig needed.
3. While there are definite similarities to my 2009 Anne Boleyn, it’s different enough to be more interesting.
4. I found decent fabric for it.
So this is the Anne I’m doing:
The fabric I got is not exact, but close enough. I’ve already had a time with this stupid fabric and I haven’t even put scissors to it. I found 6 yards while at a Joann while visiting my grandmother. I got online and found it on the website, so I figured I’d go home and order the rest I’d need (it’s only 45″ wide, so I wanted at least 6 more yards).
I get home to order it and turns out it’s no longer available on the site (yet it’s still there and coming up in searches, thanks Joann). So I go into frantic mode. According to the site there was still 4 yards at the Joann here in town, so Chase got that for me yesterday – so I have 10 all together now. There’s 4 at another store in our state and we’re seeing about getting them transferred here.
But anyway. Still got more fabric to hunt down. I love these sleeves, yall.
I will probably use my corset/bum roll/petticoat from my previous Anne… but probably not the hoopskirt, the dress from The Other Boleyn Girl was much bigger and wider than this one is, so I’ll see if the bum roll/petticoat is enough. If not I’ll use my smaller hoops.
So that’s where I am on that.
